Jackets wet, pouring buckets from the sky, Cologne took our sleep and returned our Hamburger coughs and headcolds. Or was it just the beginning of a nasty hangover? For lunch some cheese – bacon rolls and a turkish soup with rice were consumed before we boarded the tour bus and drove once again on our journey northsoutheastwest  of northern Germany. Next concert that night in Hildesheim at Club Volkseigenen Bühne (The Peoples Own Stage Club). We didn’t have a clue of what to expect and sort of fresh in our minds was our last visit some days previous. So all in all, head colds, hangovers, lost keys(!!) almost a week on tour, Hamburg etc.  we weren’t exactly excited about the whole gig thing.

It was however somewhat different this time round. Hildesheim opened up the stage for us that night. The organiser, Michael, whose family are originally from a small fishing island in Scotland  made us feel right at home. The club itself is located in an old printing factory situated right beside the railway. As we would play last and late, we had enough time to sit around! Just like in Aachen at the start of the tour, Scottsman Michael and team likewise assured us, with their genuine hospitality, of a fine night to come.

Heavy metal was the theme that night. Three heavy metal bands played before us, playing the life out of Marc’s drumkit (and our eardrums too – although earplugs were for sale!), and got the local crowd nicely warmed up for our gig. Backstage we met the bands and drank up the atmosphere of a cool night of music. Heavy Metal is not everybodys cup of tea, but at this venue with its friendly organisers, it was all a common music thing, regardless of genre,  a pure good feeling.The latest encore of the celest tour was given at around 2 am in Hildesheim and  to close the night off, merchandiser Gunther even got a few lessons on the drums.
